As most know, owner Ron Yates loves Tempranillo and offers several of this Spanish favorite from different Texas vineyards. Of course, he makes an estate Tempranillo (red and yellow label) from Spicewood Vineyards in the Texas Hill Country. There’s the red label Tempranillo made with grapes from Friesen Vineyards and the black label Tempranillo from Dutton Vineyards, both in the Texas High Plains.
The newest in his portfolio is the purple label Tempranillo from Dell Valley Vineyards in far west Texas, one of the highest vineyards in the state, sitting at around 3,700 feet. This wine has notes of tarragon, blackberries, black plum and ripe strawberries.
