For the month of October, our Wine Wednesday wines feature bottles from our 2024 Texas Fine Wine Holiday Pack. Last week, we featured the Bending Branch Winery Estate Tannat. This week it’s the Pedernales Cellars 2020 Family Reserve.
The Family Reserve from Pedernales Cellars is a blend of some of the winery’s favorite grapes from their favorite growers and the 2020 is no exception featuring fruit from Narra Vineyards, Pepperjack Vineyards, Daniel Vineyards and Farmhouse Vineyards.
This Italian blend is predominantly Teroldego with some Petit Sirah and Tempranillo, with inky dark color and velvety tannins. Teroldego hails from northeast Italy in the mountainous Trentino-Alto Adige region and produces a deeply colored red with dark fruit flavors.
The Family Reserve has notes of black cherry, cocoa powder, tobacco, black pepper and vanilla. With nice acidity, this wine pairs well with food and is a great steak wine!
